Sarah Weaver Sharpe
Sarah Sharpe currently serves as the Agriculture and Natural Resources agent in Greene County. Her focus is local foods and commercial horticulture, and also serves Albemarle, Fluvanna, and Louisa Counties with that specialty. Sarah is very passionate about helping producers start businesses and break into the local foods scene and different ways to help producers diversify their income to keep their land in production agriculture. She has an interest in farm transition between generations and how to connect new and beginning farmers with access to farmland. She also enjoys helping educate consumers about how food is grown and the production methods that are utilized.
In Greene, Sarah leads an active agriculture programming focusing on beginning farmers and the Greene County Beef Producers group. She works with a very active and growing Master Gardener group! On statewide level, Sarah is very active in Women in Agriculture Programming and statewide beginning farmer and homesteading educational efforts. She also leads efforts across the state to train new agriculture extension agents.
Sarah grew up in Madison County on her family's pork, beef, hay, and row crop farm. She is the seventh-generation farming on the land where she runs a pick-your-own pumpkin patch and grows sunflowers. She and her husband have two animal-loving daughters.
